Diamond Fork River

When I think of the Diamond Fork River I am mostly thinking of the many girthy German Brown trout I have caught under logs and stacked up clogs of this tiny little river. Sometimes what we call a river here in the western United States would be just a tiny creek in another region of the land of the free. Not very many people would think of kayaking this river in the middle of the dry season of one of the most arid states in the Union. I say hey, why not?

There is a nice road that follows the river. This makes easy access for all kinds of recreation in this area. I would guess that the road is most used by those who hike to the hot springs and possibly second to campers and fisherman looking for some rest and relaxation. In addition, exploration is incredible in this area with legends of lost Spanish gold with many traces left behind to validade such legends.

6th Water Hot Springs:

One incredible marking left behind is the "Sun Face".
The river is not far from this. With a good guide you could park your kayak and easily walk to this piece of rock art left behind from the past. Even in sandals you could mountaineer the moderate climb needed to be face to face with this marvel.

Nobody is really sure of the origin of this carving nor does anybody understand why this was left here. However, the most reasonable explanation is that the early Spanish explorers left it here. The "why" is the greater of the mysteries.  Some would claim it was left to mark a hiding spot for gold. I say "wishful thinking", but that is better than the alien origin theory.

Fishing:

I have made the breathtaking discovery that the Diamond Fork River with it's relaxing beauty is very navigable with its challenging cascades and plentiful vegetation. You may experience turkey and mule deer crossings as they are plentiful as well.

Excursion Video:

One time I was camping with my son  on Diamond fork and it rained and we got some flash flooding. Another time we were kayaking and just got off the river before a flash flood. Don't forget the weather report.
